Rediscover the Art of Writing

This class is for everyone: kids learning letterforms for the first time, teens who want to unplug and improve their memory, and adults who want to slow down and enjoy writing again. No screens. No apps. Just pencils, pens, brushes, and paper.

Over four weeks in March, we will explore the elements of writing, using everything from crayons and pencils to pens and brushes, learning from the most basic shapes to the most expressive forms.

Anyone can write, and everyone can learn to write beautifully.

What We’ll Explore
• A short, fascinating history of writing
• Why writing by hand improves memory and focus
• Why cursive works differently (and often better) than thumb typing
• How letterforms connect
• Block letters, cursive, italic, and calligraphy styles
• How tools change how letters feel
This is not school and not graded. It’s guided practice, conversation, and discovery.

• Absolute beginners and curious intermediates
You do not need good handwriting to start. This is a meditative class where you express yourself with brushes and pens.

Tools Are Included
We’ll provide everything you need:
• Pencils
• Pens
• Brushes
• Crayons
You’re welcome to bring favorite tools, but it’s not required.

Class Structure
• Four classes over four weeks
• 120 minutes per session
• Small, friendly groups
• Plenty of individual guidance
Same relaxed cadence as our pottery classes—just cleaner hands.

The teacher has some flexibility with days; you can choose your preferences for days and time on the next page, and we will do our best to meet everyone's schedule.
